Friday 1st - Opera Day
We began the day by warming up our voices with a range of fun exercises. We practised breathing techniques, pitch, and clear pronunciation, helping us to understand the importance of articulation when singing and performing.

Next, we explored what opera is and discussed how it combines music, storytelling, and acting. We learned some important key vocabulary, including libretto (little book), and talked about the different roles involved in creating an opera, such as composers, who write the music, and directors, who help bring the performance to life on stage.

We were then introduced to scenes from The Magic Flute. We explored the characters and began practising how to perform as them. One of the highlights of the day was acting out a scene where we had to move carefully “on tiptoe,” pretending we were escaping from a dungeon. This helped us think about expression, movement, and how to convey emotion through performance.
