Friday 11th September - Full week of fun!

What a lovely, full week we have had in Year 4! The children have been busy learning, creating and sharing their ideas across all areas of the curriculum, and we are so proud of the enthusiasm they have shown.

🌎 Geography – Discovering North America

This week, we began our exciting new Geography unit all about North America. The children have started to develop their knowledge of the continent and its location in the world. We explored geographical vocabulary such as equator, Northern Hemisphere and Western Hemisphere, and the children enjoyed using these terms to describe where North America is located. We are looking forward to finding out even more about this fascinating continent over the coming weeks!

🎶 Music – ABBA!

Our Music lessons have taken us back in time as we began learning all about the iconic band ABBA. The children explored ABBA's distinctive style of music and listened carefully to some of their well-known songs. They have also started learning the lyrics to the much-loved song 'Mamma Mia'. There has been lots of enthusiasm (and plenty of singing!) in our music lessons this week!

📚 Literacy – Poetry

In Literacy, the children have been busy becoming poets! Inspired by the book we have been studying, they wrote their own wonderful poems about a tree and a river. They thought carefully about the words they chose and used lots of exciting and descriptive vocabulary to bring their poems to life. We were so impressed by the creativity and imagination shown in their writing – their poems really were brilliant!

🎨 Looking to the Future

To finish our week, the children created their own future cards. They thought carefully about their hopes, dreams and aspirations for the future and considered what they would like to achieve as they grow older. They then expressed their ideas through art, creating some thoughtful and imaginative designs. It was lovely to see the children thinking positively about their futures and sharing their ambitions with us.
