3rd October - Banning the Dark

In Year 4 this week, we took part in a lively class debate inspired by the book The King Who Banned the Dark. Our topic was whether we should ban or keep the dark, and we split into two teams: Pro (for banning the dark) and Con (for keeping it). Using our laptops, we researched facts, figures, and points to back up our arguments — from how darkness helps people and animals rest, to how it can sometimes make people feel frightened. Everyone worked together brilliantly, presenting strong ideas and listening carefully to each other. The debate was full of energy and thoughtful discussion, and we all learned how to use evidence to support our opinions and speak confidently in front of the class!
