24th October - Art Week

This week in year 5 we have dedicated a lot of our time to ‘Art Week’ where we have been looking at the French artist ‘Henri Rousseau’. We learnt that Henri started to complete art when he was older and actually started of his working life as a lawyer and a customs officer. Many of Henri’s paintings involve the jungle, and the animals and flowers that lived there, however we later learnt that Henri never visited the jungle and instead visited the botanical gardens in Paris for his inspiration.
Year 5, completed their very own Henri Rousseau inspired picture using water colours and I think you’ll agree they have all done a fantastic job. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm for art come through throughout the week and all the children should feel proud of their achievements.
We’ve now come to the end of our first half term in year 5, and I can say it has been an absolute pleasure to get to know all of the children so well. They have already in a short amount of time made such fantastic progress.
I wish you all a wonderful half term, enjoy the rest and have fun!
