20th March - Classifying litter

In Year 4 this week, we started our topic in Science about Human impacts on the environment.

We started by discussing what it meant to group objects and what it meant to classify something.

We went out onto both of our playgrounds in groups, using litter pickers and gloves to pick up a range of different pieces of litter.

We started grouping our litter into either ‘recyclable’, ‘non-recyclable’ or ‘organic’ items.

We recorded our findings in our table and we mostly found non-recyclable items littered on the floor.

We reflected by writing which two items which we think have the worst impact on plants and wildlife, and why this might be.
