17th October - The Magic Box

In Year 3, we began an exciting new topic in Literacy all about poems! To start, we explored a magic box and used our imaginations to guess what might be hidden inside. We shared creative ideas — from sparkling stars and whispers of the wind to laughter, dreams, and secret wishes. This activity helped us think about how poets use imagination and descriptive language to make their writing come alive. Everyone enjoyed using their senses and creativity to create vivid images in their minds, setting the stage for writing our very own magical poems! We then went on an adventure around the school to find autumnal features, to use expanded noun phrases to describe what we can see.
