12th December

STEM Discovery Centre

On Wednesday, we went on a school trip the STEM discovery centre in Stevenage. It was a fantastic opportunity for us all to learn more about space and to further our knowledge on things we have already been taught.  We did 3 different activities whilst we were there, which helped us visually see the aspects of science we had been taught.

Firstly, we created our own rocket splat bags. This involved using paint and an effervescent (fizzy) tablet in a small capsule. When the tablet met the paint it caused a chemical reaction to happen, which meant that it exploded and created a pattern of paint on our bags.

Next, we created and made our own paper rockets. As a class we listened to all the information about how rockets are formed so we had a clear understanding so we could then make our own. After we had ensured we had included all the important parts, we took our rockets outside to let them ‘take off’

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, one week to go!!
