It was Buddy Assembly today! The Year 6 children all wrote very thoughtful speeches about their Buddies in Reception and made it a heart-warming event for parents, carers and children.

This week, Year 6 wrote a tourist leaflet to persuade people to visit African to see the wonderful wildlife there. They practised using persuasive techniques such as modal verbs and persuasive sentence openers. See if you can spot these features in these examples:

In Maths, we have been solving word problems that involve addition and subtraction. We learnt to spot which operation to use by looking for key phrases, such as: difference, less than, how much more/less than for subtraction; and “in total”, “increase”, “combined” and “altogether” for addition.

We learnt about the different functions of the blood in Science and watched this clip. Can you explain the function of platelets, red blood cells and white blood cells?

Coming up next week:

Wednesday – school nurse visit (National Child Measurement programme);

Thursday – Health Questionnaire in school with school nursing team (for more information, see

Well done for working hard this week. Have a lovely weekend,
