In Literacy this week we began planning our own versions of a fable to share with Year 5 children. We created some very imaginative characters and story ideas! We will write them next week.

We interviewed our buddies this week in preparation for writing a speech about them in Buddy Assembly.

After a successful unit on place value in Maths, we have moved on to the Four Operations, where we will be learning the formal written methods, including long multiplication and long division. We will also be learning about factors, multiples, primes, square and cube numbers.

In Science, we shared our prior knowledge of what we think a healthy lifestyle involves and created a concept map of our knowledge. We also researched opinions about how to be healthy to see whether they are factually true or not.

History found us examining a range of sources about the Vikings to see if we could find a balanced picture of this infamous but extraordinary culture.

Lastly, I have sent home Boom Reader logins this week. Please do log your child’s reading through the week. You should be able to see when I check on their reading logs – the system should notify you. Reading is such an important part of learning and has so many benefits, so please do support your child with reading at home.

Coming up next week:

  • famous children’s author Zanib Mian will be visiting the school on Tuesday to promote her new book “Meet the Maliks” – you can order a signed copy using the link emailed to you this week!
  • Sponsored Bounce this Friday

Lastly, we will be having a Viking Day with History off the Page in school on Tuesday 3rd October! Please help your child put together a simple Viking costume for the day. Please refer to the email you should have received for some ideas (also on the Blog).

Have a great weekend!

Here are some examples of the concept maps we made in Science:
