This week was Art week. We researched examples of Viking art found on metal weapons and jewelry, as well as stones, wooden churches and boats. We then sketched some examples and innovated our own Viking designs, focusing on line drawing. Then, to add texture and tone to our sketches, we used shading techniques, such as: hatching, cross-hatching, stippling and contour shading. We also learnt how to use a grid to help draw the correct proportions of a Viking warrior’s face. Finally, we experimented in another material, making clay Viking pendants with Viking designs carved onto them.

Coming up next:

Science – electrical circuits

Maths – factors, multiples, square and cube numbers

Literacy – writing a suspense story, using the book, “The Night of the Gargoyles” as inspiration

Have a wonderful half term!
