Well done for working hard this week! You have all earned a good weekend.
In Science, we identified adaptations that help organisms survive in their environments and found out, for example, that the Okapi and the Giraffe are closely related but have different adaptations to suit their different environments.
In RE we explored the Ten Commandments and thought about what they mean to us today and what they might mean to Christians. We put them in what we thought were the order of importance. We debated whether you needed to be Christian to follow the Ten Commandments.
In P.E. we have been developing ...
What a week! We had an amazing time at the O2 Arena, singing as part of the Young Voices choir 2023. You all sang “from the heart” and danced with great enthusiasm – well done! Your behaviour was impeccable too.
Next week: adaptation in Science; multiplying and dividing fractions in Maths!
Have a wonderful and well-earned weekend.
This week we began our History unit of learning about the Windrush generation by watching Floella Benjamin’s autobiographical film “Coming to England”. We were struck by how beautiful her home island of Trinidad is. We also discussed the many challenges she and her family faced when they came to England. On Friday, we were very privileged to have some visitors who are part of the Windrush generation. They shared many interesting artefacts and delicious food. They also shared how challenging their experience of coming to England was, including the racism they encountered, as they started a new life in ...
We have been busy with our Design and Technology project: to design and build a working Winter Wonderland fairground ride. We began by researching different designs. Then we investigated how components can be made to rotate using a motor with a pulley and belt system connected to an electrical circuit – which linked to our Science learning this term. We made a switch and worked to produce a product with an appealing design and good finish to attract customers.
It was a challenging project! Here are our finished products:
In Science this week we made burglar alarms, applying our knowledge of electrical circuits to create switches.
We have been learning to compare and order fractions in Maths, using the Lowest Common Multiple.
We also had a go at making pompoms for the Christmas fayre, which proved a little trickier than anticipated!
Next week is Design and Technology week, where we will be researching, designing and making an electrical fairground ride model!
Have a wonderful time at the Christmas fayre.
