In Literacy this week we have been using a visual text to inspire our writing of dialogue in a narrative. We used a clip from Edward Scissorhands and described the moment when Peg meets Edward in his strange mansion. We acted out the scene to generate ideas on how to describe the characters’ reactions. Here is a great example by Fletcher:
This week we have worked really hard calculating with fractions, decimals and percentages in Maths.
In Literacy, we have enjoyed writing suspenseful setting descriptions in the horror genre.

Welcome back!
We have been hard at work in Maths this week learning how to convert fractions to decimals (and decimals into fractions) by converting to tenths, hundredths or thousandths.
In Literacy, we have started a unit of learning all about different genres of writing. We began by exploring which genres are available in our school library. Over the rest of the week, we explored writing in the horror, crime and science fiction genres. Extracts from the following books were used: Uncle Montague’s Tales of Terror, Ruby Redfort Look Into My Eyes, The Messenger Bird, and All Summer in a Day. If ...
Design and Technology week.
This week, we researched, designed and made a range of Caribbean dishes. We also found out about the famous Caribbean chef, Levi Roots. His life story has many similarities with Floella Benjamin and links with our History unit about the Windrush generation.
Our Caribbean feast was served and Mr Gately attended! We prepared savoury dishes such as Jerk Chicken and rice salad, which we seasoned with chilli powder, garlic, herbs and of course Reggae Reggae sauce!
For dessert, Violet, Lucy and Lewi prepared coconuts by wielding a hammer! The rest of us made baked sugared oranges, baked plantain, mango, ...
