What an incredibly busy time we have had in year 5 this week, we just simply haven’t stopped! I would just like to praise the whole of the class for being so supportive with the Year 6 SATs that have been going on this week, they have been so understanding moving around and being quiet and it has been very much appreciated by everyone.
As a class we are thoroughly enjoying our Wednesday afternoon swimming lessons, we have received such wonderful feedback on how well they are doing in these sessions and we looking forward to seeing how much more ...

Year 5, again have been working so hard in all of their lessons this week, and we have really seen a confidence boost in our maths lessons. We haven’t only been adding fractions with the same denominator, but we have been converting improper and mixed fractions so we add them together this way too. We really have been working our socks off to become maths wizards this week.

We have been working hard this week in year 5 and have been focussing heavily on our fractions work. All members of the class have been working well and have stayed focussed even when things have got tough. This week we have been working hard on our DT project, which was making an Anglo-Saxon Brooch to go alongside our History unit this term. The children worked hard to ensure they worked on their clay skills and produced brilliant planning designs before making their final products. These will remain at school until ...
This week we created our own homemade ‘Lava Lamps’ in our science lesson to help us understand more about the properties of materials. We looked at the key vocabulary of effervescent and density as this helped to understand why certain liquids sunk and why others did not. Overall we had a fantastic afternoon creating our masterpieces and it certainly created ‘awe and wonder’ into the classroom. I do hope that they shared their creations with you so you can see how the experiment took place.
