  • Map makers and bounce experts!
This week in geography we went on a walk around the local area to help create our own map. We sketched a rough route of our walk around the estate and identified human and physical geography on our way such as, a train station, the park, a golf course and a huge playing field. The walk really helped the children to understand the 8 compass points and they worked really hard designing and making a map of their local area using clear keys and symbols. Also this week, despite the lovely heatwave the children thoroughly enjoyed the sponsored bounce and ...
  • Show time!
This week has been extremely busy. The children have been rehearsing for their show. Can I just say what an amazing performance the children did. They were all fantastic and I was so proud of how hard they practiced and it showed how amazing they were in their performance. They were all superstars! Thank you to everyone that came I hope you enjoyed the show, the children are a credit to you all! Have a fabulous weekend, Miss Hurrell
  • Canal trip and printing techniques!
This week the children had a wonderful day at Batchworth Lock. The children enjoyed sharing all the knowledge they had learned in history all about canals and they especially enjoyed learning even more about canals. The day consisted of three activities, history, lock and roger and a boat trip. It was so lovely to hear the children enjoying every moment saying how amazing the day was. Here are a few photographs showing how much fun we had! The volunteers at batchworth lock were wonderful, they were full of fascinating information and the children were intrigued and listened extremely well. Thank ...
  • Fishing for magnetic materials!
This week in science the children went fishing however it wasn’t your regular fishing this fishing was unique. It consisted of a rope and a magnet. The children were identifying magnetic and non-magnetic materials and by doing so they had to use a magnet to see what materials attracted and what materials repelled to help classify their findings. This week in maths the children have started a new unit on fractions. We have been learning all about how to make a whole by adding fractions such as 3/4 + 1/4 = 1 whole. We also started looking at tenths and ...
  • Our adventurous week!
This week the children had fun pond dipping and fished out many things such as newts! The children loved exploring in the pond and are excited to see, when the weather gets nicer, whether there will be anymore visitors to the pond. Also this week the children have been working hard in PE. The children learned how to catch in a low position and this was quite a tricky concept to get their heads around. Knowing which leg was best to use was hard but the children all gave it a go and tried their best. They also played a ...
