7 January – Happy New Year

Dear Parents,

It was so lovely to welcome all the children back to school this week – we have missed them! They were full of all their news and in very good spirits. We got straight to work and finished off our ‘addition and subtraction’ unit in Maths and will be starting our ‘money’ unit next week. In literacy, we have started our new book ‘The Lost Spells’ which is a beautifully illustrated book of poems all about nature. The children will be writing recounts and their own poems in response to this book over the next couple of weeks. We will be exploring spreadsheets in computing and setting goals in PSHE this term as well as investigating materials in science.

Homework and spellings will commence next week (Friday 14th January). Reading books will be sent home shortly too but in the meantime, please do encourage your children to read some of their own home books to you; and enjoy reading stories to them.

Finally, the year 2 team and I would like to say thank you so much for the lovely gifts you gave us for Christmas. It was very kind and generous of you and very much appreciated.

Warmest wishes,
Mrs Hunter
