Year 1, March 29th, 2024

In Maths, we have been learning about mass. We compared items to see which was heavier. We used cubes to compare their weight to small items. Looking at scales was very interesting.

This week was D.T. Week. The backdrop of our topic was pants! We enjoyed reading stories about pants such as ‘Aliens Love Underpants’. We learned about their history. We thought about what qualities a pair of pants needed. We learned to tie a knot, thread a needle and to use running stitch. Many children demonstrated great skills that were fiddly, really testing their fine motor skills.

In Literacy, we finished our work based around the story Lift. We wrote a longer piece of writing, showing that was we could include full stops, capital letters, plus the conjunctions: 1: ‘and’; 2 ‘because’.

In Gymnastics, we used a wide variety of equipment, learning to jump and land safely and in control with knees bent. The favourite piece of equipment to use was the rope. This was a real test of core strength and the children happily embraced the challenge.

Have a lovely break and I will see you in two weeks. Please remember that we come back to school on Tuesday, 16th April because the Monday is an I.N.S.E.T. day.
