7th January – Happy New Year

Welcome back to the Spring Term. I hope you had a restful Christmas break.

In Maths, we have started a new unit of work on 2D and 3D shape. We have been naming them and trying to think of some familiar objects which are the same shape such as a sphere is like a football and a cone is like a party hat. What shapes can you find at home?

This week we have started a new Geography curriculum project called ‘Where Do I live?’. This week we looked at the seven major continents and five major oceans. Perhaps you could ask your child how many they can remember? We also located the UK. Below are two of the songs that we joined in with whilst completing our learning. I hope you enjoy them as much as the children did!

We braved the cold yesterday and started our P.E. unit of work on Multiskills. This lesson involved us hopping, skipping and jumping along lines on the playground. As if that wasn’t hard enough, we then had to do this balancing objects on our head. I was very impressed with some skills from the children especially on such a chilly day!

Next week we will be starting our new Whole School unit of work in Literacy focussing on a book of poetry called ‘The Lost Spells’ by Robert Macfarlane. We have already started to assess the children on their phonics as we do at the start of every half term. Once this has been completed, we will be in a position to start sending new books home.

Have a lovely weekend.
