23rd September – Four day week

Another busy week has been and gone. It is hard to believe it was a four day week! It was really lovely to see many of you at the class meeting yesterday. If you missed it, the powerpoint is on our class page underneath the subheading ‘Letters’.

In Science, we have been continuing our unit of plants. This week we focussed on some different plants and decided if they were flowers or trees. We looked at tulips, sweet peas, roses, apple trees and daffodils. Perhaps you might be able to spot some of these growing outside or in your garden? Our broad beans that we planted are starting to grow. It has been lovely checking on them each morning when I come into school. Here is a photo of one that is growing particularly well!

Rosie the Hen has continued to keep us on our toes this week. We talked about prepositions and were able to use some of this language to guide her through the school. She even managed to get into Mr Gately’s office!

We have finished the phonics assessments this week and have sent home a decodable book for each child. Please read the book at least 3-4 times and remember to ‘log it’ on the Go Read app. Here is a link to the app if you have not managed to install it yet. Pleas log any reading completed at home. This includes home books and library books.

A reminder that our library session is on Monday. Please bring in your library book if you haven’t already done so. Please bring in the coloured folder and the bookmark as this has a code on the back of it which we use to scan books into the system.

Have a great weekend.
