30 September – Rights and Responsibilities

Our PSHE lessons this half term are ‘Being me in my world’. Over the past couple of weeks, the children have focused on rights and responsibilities in school. For example, they have agreed they have the right to be safe, the right to be respected and the right to learn. Alongside this, we discussed what responsibilities they have such as making sure they try their best at school and letting others learn. In literacy, the children are continuing to write a report about an invented island. They are really impressing us with their use of conjunctions and adjectives. In our reading lessons, we have been exploring the classic story ‘Where the wild things are’. We have practised using retrieval skills and have explored some exciting vocabulary.

The children continue to enjoy our library lessons each week – there is much excitement when it is their turn to change their books. Thank you for continuing to support reading at home through our ‘decodable’ books – the children were really proud to tell us they had read their books frequently at home and it was fantastic to see their reading logged on our new reading app.

Wishing you all a restful weekend,
Mrs Hunter & Mrs Cavenagh-Mainwaring
