Message for parents and carers – 15 June

Dear Parents,

I was sad to hear the news that Year 5 will not be returning to school at this point. I had been looking forward to seeing all the children; and from your emails, I know that many of the children are really missing Two Waters now. I also appreciate that it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep children motivated with their home learning at the moment and to balance schooling and work. I wanted to reassure you that I am still your child(ren)’s teacher and available for any help or support they may need: looking through the work they have completed at home, responding to requests for help with activities etc.

I will be in touch over the next couple of weeks by phone to see how everyone is doing and if there is any further support I can offer.

In terms of learning packs, our move towards using the online resources of The Oak Academy and BBC Bitesize has been welcomed by many of you and the quality of the work that the children are producing is fantastic. Going forward, I will continue to base our Year 5 learning packs around these resources. However, not every child learns in the same way and at the same pace and online learning may not suit everyone. If you and your child(ren) had preferred the original paper copy learning packs, I have listed some good quality websites that are providing free home learning packs that you can print and work on at home:

In addition, below are the original websites that we recommended at the beginning of the lockdown (and a few new ones) which you may want to visit if you haven’t already done so:

Maths & Literacy *NEW* *NEW* (note: aimed more generally at KS2 so some activities may be a little easier that our usual Year 5 work, some may be more challenging) *NEW*

Foundation (science) *NEW* (dance) *NEW* *NEW* *NEW* (news website including ‘happy news’ section!) *NEW* *NEW*

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any queries.
Best wishes,
Mrs Hunter
