This week we have really got stuck into our new topic, ‘The Bronze Age’ and spent time learning all about Stonehenge. We talked about its geographical location, physical appearance and why it might have been built, understanding that nobody really knows for definite why it was built but coming up with thoughtful ideas and suggestions. We then made our own models of Stonehenge using biscuits, working as a team with a limited number of biscuits to recreate the famous landmark as best we could; however I think the most exciting bit was getting to eat them afterwards! For pictures please see our class page on the website.
In Maths this week we have focused on multiplication and learning our times tables. Next week we are beginning to move onto more formal methods of multiplication, beginning by using a number line and then moving onto the grid method. In Literacy we are thinking all about grammar and have become experts this week in using subordinate clauses in our sentences.
New spellings will come home with the children today, there is also a copy of these, as well as the homework pack, on the website.
Have a lovely weekend 🙂
