This week the children have worked really hard on their story maps for ‘The Magic Porridge Pot’ and they are now beginning to re-tell the story confidently. We will send these maps home with the children tomorrow (Monday 1st) so that they can share the story with you. It is important that the children have a good understanding of the structure of story before they begin to innovate and change the story in the coming weeks.
In Maths this week we will be ordering groups of objects and numbers. We will also be thinking about ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc) and playing some maths games which will enable the children to practice a range of mathematical skills.
We had a great time last week being nature explorers in the school grounds and using what we had found to create natural art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. We took lots of photographs of the children in action and will share these with you soon. We are still waiting for the last few permission slips for sharing photos on the website.
Just a reminder that our Maths curriculum workshop is on Tuesday 2nd October. This will provide us with the opportunity to share with you how we teach the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), the resources we use in class and give you the chance to work through some examples with your children.
Hope you have all had a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow 🙂
